William Balmer is a PhD student at the Johns Hopkins University and graduate research assistant at the Space Telescope Science Institute. He and his colleagues research the growth, evolution, and composition of giant planets, brown dwarfs, and very low mass stars using some of the world’s largest optical and infrared observatories (WIYN 3.5m, Magellan 6.5m, Gemini 8.1m, VLT 8.2m, the VLT-Interferometry Array, and soon JWST).
