I imaged Sunspot AR1476 on May 10 at 7:04 PM with a white light filter attached to a TMB-92L refractor. Active Region 1476 rotated into view on May 5; it is the largest sunspot group to form in 8 years. A Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) blasted away from AR1476 on May 11 one day after I captured this image; it is presently speeding toward the Earth at over 2 million miles per hour where it will deliver a glancing blow on May 14. Only minor effects are predicted to satellites in orbit.
